The 2008 picking schedule is now available! Please see it for approximate picking dates. As always, for the specific availability on a weekly basis, check the update page (updated Oct. 1, 2008).
We expect to open the orchard for apple picking on Saturday, September 13, 2008. We will be open on Saturdays & Sundays only, 10 am - 5 pm, through October.
Our growing season is going quite well, and as of now we have a beautiful crop in the orchard. We have managed to fight off the the Japanese beetles, and with the timely rains in northern Illinois we look forward to a bountiful harvest. By late August we will be posting our picking schedule along with an additional update on the size and condition of our crop. Please check back then.
As always, as fall approaches, we look forward to seeing you, and hope you enjoy your visit to our orchard. Please check the links to our picking schedule and map to our farm.
Price per bushel is $50.00, which is approximately $1.19 per pound. We accept cash or checks -- no credit cards and there is no ATM on-site.
Honey Update
We've always known we had good honey to sell at our orchard, but now the judges at the McHenry County Fair agree! Last year Tanglewood Farm won Best of Show for their honeycomb entry, and First Prize for their bottled honey. You will be able to see the award-winning honeycomb and ribbons in our sales room this fall, and the prize-winning honey will be for sale here also.
